New Blog!

Hello! School's starting again soon in Singapore so I decided to motivate myself by starting a blog about studying and tips! I may not be the smartest person but I'll try my best to help! :)

OPI, China Glaze and elf?!?

Recently, my friend and I were exploring Orchard Road and she remembered a flea called SCAPE! She showed me the way there and it was crowded!! Anyway, onto the point of this post, I SAW OPI, CHINA GLAZE AND ELF BEING SOLD THERE. CHEAP.

There is a DYON booth above ground that sells only OPI polishes and some nail dotting tools. The other DYON booth is located downstairs. You need to go down the stairs form Long John's and its on the right. They are currently giving away *some* free miniature bottles of the Seche Vite top coat when you buy something.

OPI:
The price for an OPI polish from a booth called DYON is $10 for a full bottle (Normally $20 in Sephora and BHG) the only catch is, the bottles are a bit damaged. The glass can have a small chip and the lid can have a piece of plastic missing. However, the polish itself is great!
They also sell the mini limited edition sets at $16. They are $20 in BHG for a set of mini's but a penny saved is a penny earned, right?

China Glaze:
One bottle of a full size China Glaze product is $8. They have a promotion which sells them at 3 for $20 (totally worth it.) They bottles are also a bit damaged but the polishes are still great!

Nail dotting tools:
A set of 5 nail dotting tools are $5. They come with a range of different sizes and its worth the price!

E.L.F:
I haven't seen elf being sold in a store in Singapore before so I was really excited when I saw them selling it there! They have powders, blushes, lip glosses and some other stuff for 3 for $10! So cheap! Unfortunately, I couldn't buy anything because it was too crowded by other girls buying the makeup...

All of this can be found in the same booth! Leave a comment telling me if you go check it out!

Maybelline Baby Lips - Review

On hearing a lot of people raving about this lip balm, I decided to give it a try. I had really high hopes for this lip balm. I opened the packaging and I could immediately smell the product. The one I chose smells like strawberries.

It feels very glossy on the lips and provides some moisture and shine. The balm only lasts 1-2 hours. However, I dislike the plastic feel to it. When it's on my lips, I feel like I can taste plastic (weird, huh?) I have used it several times to see if I will grow to like it, but I don't.

Cure Natural Aqua Gel

Exfoliating dead skin is important to prevent breakouts. We breakout because the dead skin, oil and dirt is clogged in our pores, thus causing pimples. Regular exfoliators have small beads that 'exfoliate' dead skin and they mostly contain harsh chemicals that will remove the dead skin. They will work the first few times, but over time they can get too rough for the skin.
Cure is very gentle on the skin because it does not contain any small micro beads. At first, I was very skeptical to purchase this product because I thought it was the gel clumping up and forming the balls. I went to a Watson's that stock cure and asked them for a sample. It cannot be found at every Watson's so it's better to check where they stock it.
To test out if it really worked, I applied a bit of the sample onto the heel of my foot (the part where it often gets hard and dry.) I then washed it off and sure enough, it was smooth! I got so excited I purchased the full sized product a few days later. It retails for SGD$42 but can also be found on yesstyle.com.

  Comes in a pump bottle.
Has a cap (so it doesn't waste
product when you press on it).

It is a clear gel
Dead skin (ew)

Pros:
-It removes dead skin effectively.
-It does not contain any harsh chemicals that will irritate the skin.
-It lightens scars.

Cons:
-It is hard to find.

What this product claims to do:
Remove dead skin without the use of micro beads.

Best for:
Every skin type.

Not good for:
N/A

Would I repurchase?
Yes! It is an amazing product!

Quality: 10/10
Price: 6/10 Pricey but I would still pay SGD$42 for this product.
Application: 10/10

Quick Fast Drying Nail Tip!

I was surfing the internet and came across this great nail tip! I'm always too lazy to paint my nails because I can't be bothered to wait for them to dry. All you need for this is: a bowl, some ice, cold water and wet nails!

Dip your nails in the ice water
Ice water in a  tupperware dish

Pour the cold water into the bowl and some ice cubes. Make sure the bowl isn't too shallow otherwise the nails will get scratched. Wait for the water to get really cold and then dunk your finger-tips in. Leave them in for 3-5 minutes and when you take them out, they should be dry. Just be careful for an hour because they can still get dents in them.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Energising Face Mist

Comes in a opaque spray bottle.
An energising face spritz.

I bought this product not knowing what it did or how good it was. It sat in my shelf for two months before I found it and tested it out. I bought mine in a body shop outlet in York. The price I paid for it was £10. For £10 you get 100ml of product. It comes in a handy spray bottle form which makes it easy to spray onto my face.

I spray the product onto my face after I apply toner and before I apply my moisturiser. After using this consistently in my skin care routine in the morning it has helped lighten my scars, brightened my skin and made it appear whiter.

Pros:
 - It faded my acne scars.
 - It whitened and brightened my skin.
 - The spray bottle makes it easy to apply directly onto the skin.

 Cons:
 - It has a scent of citrus.

What this product claims to do:
 - Whiten skin.
 - Energise skin.

 Best for:
 Every skin type.

 Not good for:
People that are sensitive to Vitamin C products.

 Would I repurchase?
Yes! It helped to lighten my scars and brighten my skin.

 Quality: 10/10
 Price: 10/10
 Application: 10/10

Acne Face Mapping:What your body is trying to tell you.

Breaking out in certain parts of your face could be your body's way of telling you that something is wrong with your body inside so it is important to take care of your body because that can effect the way your skin acts. The face is divided into 8 different regions. The forehead, the temples, between the brows, on the nose, left cheek, right cheek, lip area, chin and jaw.

Breaking out in the forehead region:
 - Sleep before 10pm to let your liver rest.
 - Drink plenty of water.
 - Sleep in a regular schedule.
 - Eat healthy food.
 - Wash your hair thoroughly because oil from the hair cam transfer onto the face and cause breakouts.
 - Wash your hats regularly or you might get the leftover oil and makeup will rub on the forehead and cause breakouts in that area.

 Breaking out in the temples:
 - Reduce the amount of fat in your diet.
 - Eat less processed food, junk food and fast food.

 Breaking out between the brows:
 - Avoid being stressed.
 - Avoid smoking.
 - Avoid drinking alcohol.

 Breaking out on the nose:
 - Eat less spices and garlic.
 - Get more fresh air.
 - Go for walks everyday.
 - Get more fresh air.
 - Make sure you are getting enough vitamin B.

Breaking out on the left cheek:
 - Maintain a normal daily routine.
 - Try to keep in a positive mood throughout the day.
 - Don't let your body overheat.
 - Try to relax.
 -Practice proper hygiene

Breaking out on the right cheek:
 - Avoid fast food and junk food
 - Avoid mango, taro root, wine, and seafood or other foods you may be sensitive/allergic to.
 - Eat less sugar.
 - Get more fresh air

Breaking out in the lip area:
 - Eat more fibre.
 - Include more fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet.
 - Eat less spicy and fried foods.
 - Change your toothpaste.

Breaking out on the chin and jaw:
 - Reduce the habit of eating before bed. (Eating before bed will also make you gain weight faster.)
 - Eat more fresh fruit and vegetables.
 - Get more rest.
 - Sleep early and wake up early.
 - Practice a proper hygiene.

I usually break out on my right cheek because I rest my head in my hand whilst studying. I also change my pillowcase more often to reduce the oil transfer from my hair to my face.

Watsons deep cleansing nose pore strips.

There are a lot of pore strips on the market and they are common to find in drugstores and are affordable. I decided to try this pore strip because I could see blackheads appearing around my nose. I don't have a lot of blackheads or whiteheads but I used this because one of the blackheads turned into a pimple. I don't like this pore strip. It left my skin red and sore and didn't pull any blackheads out. I will not be repurchasing this product but I will be looking out for other pore stops.

Pros:
It is cheap.

Cons:
It barely took out any blackheads.

What this product claims to do:
It claims to take put blackheads and whiteheads.

Best for:
No one.

Not good for:
Everyone.

Would I repurchase?
No. It left my skin red and painful and didn't pull out any blackheads or whiteheads.

Quality: 0/10
Price: 10/10
Application: 2/10

Review: Skin79 VIP Gold BB Cream

Skin 79 is a South Korean cosmetics brand. It is a triple function BB Cream that will benefit our skin as well as provide the coverage you need on an everyday basis. The Adenosine and Arbutin ingredients are effective in whitening, wrinkle improvement and creates more bright and elastic skin. The gold and caviar extracts treats the skin to make it more healthy and shiny. It also protects your skin from UV A and UV B rays that can harm your skin causing it to age faster.
I have been looking for a BB Cream that can match my skin tone. Most BB Creams are too light or dark for me. Upon hearing great reviews about this product I decided to purchase it. Originally HKD$198 reduced to HKD$89 I found my bottle in a SASA in Hong Kong for 55% off! (I went to the bigger one in Causeway Bay.)Make sure you go to larger SASA's because they tend to have a section that is usually 20-55% off!
The one thing I dislike about this BB Cream is that the first time I pumped it, I had to pump it a few times before the product came out. One pump is too much, less is more!
This BB Cream covers a lot of imperfections. I don't really use a concealer with my BB Cream now. It only comes in one shade which is very limiting to darker or lighter skin tones. It is more suited to oriental skin tones or skin with yellow undertones. The VIP Gold one is made for people with normal/dry skin. If you have oily/combination skin I recommend the hot pink version.
This BB Cream is very waterproof
Swatch of BB Cream
Got mine 55% off!

Hygienic pump keeps from germs
 and bacteria getting in

Comes in a gorgeous gold bottle
Packaged in a cardboard box

Pros:
- It provides a lot of coverage.
- It is widely available online and in stores (beware of fake BB Creams on amazon)
- The pump bottle keeps germs and bacteria from getting in.

Cons:
- It comes in one shade only.

What this product claims to do:
- Whiten skin.
- Improve wrinkles and fine lines.
- Create more bright and elastic skin.

Best for:
People with normal/dry skin.

Not good for:
People with oily/combination skin. (they also make a BB Cream for oily/combination skin.)

Would I repurchase?
Yes! I finally found a BB Cream that is suitable for my skin type, that will benefit my skin and matches my skin colour.

Quality: 9.5/10
Price: 8/10
Application: 9/10
