Review: Skin79 VIP Gold BB Cream

Skin 79 is a South Korean cosmetics brand. It is a triple function BB Cream that will benefit our skin as well as provide the coverage you need on an everyday basis. The Adenosine and Arbutin ingredients are effective in whitening, wrinkle improvement and creates more bright and elastic skin. The gold and caviar extracts treats the skin to make it more healthy and shiny. It also protects your skin from UV A and UV B rays that can harm your skin causing it to age faster.
I have been looking for a BB Cream that can match my skin tone. Most BB Creams are too light or dark for me. Upon hearing great reviews about this product I decided to purchase it. Originally HKD$198 reduced to HKD$89 I found my bottle in a SASA in Hong Kong for 55% off! (I went to the bigger one in Causeway Bay.)Make sure you go to larger SASA's because they tend to have a section that is usually 20-55% off!
The one thing I dislike about this BB Cream is that the first time I pumped it, I had to pump it a few times before the product came out. One pump is too much, less is more!
This BB Cream covers a lot of imperfections. I don't really use a concealer with my BB Cream now. It only comes in one shade which is very limiting to darker or lighter skin tones. It is more suited to oriental skin tones or skin with yellow undertones. The VIP Gold one is made for people with normal/dry skin. If you have oily/combination skin I recommend the hot pink version.
This BB Cream is very waterproof

Hygienic pump keeps from germs
 and bacteria getting in

Comes in a gorgeous gold bottle
Packaged in a cardboard box

Pros:
- It provides a lot of coverage.
- It is widely available online and in stores (beware of fake BB Creams on amazon)
- The pump bottle keeps germs and bacteria from getting in.

Cons:
- It comes in one shade only.

What this product claims to do:
- Whiten skin.
- Improve wrinkles and fine lines.
- Create more bright and elastic skin.

Best for:
People with normal/dry skin.

Not good for:
People with oily/combination skin. (they also make a BB Cream for oily/combination skin.)

Would I repurchase?
Yes! I finally found a BB Cream that is suitable for my skin type, that will benefit my skin and matches my skin colour.

How long should you keep your makeup?

Using expired, old, mouldy makeup can cause infections, breakouts and allergic reactions. It is important to replace your makeup when it expires. Cosmetics manufacturers aren't required to put in expiration dates on the product. When you open your new product make sure you write the date so that you know when to throw it away. Makeup only begins to age when you open the bottle. Once you open it make sure to store it away from direct sunlight in a cool, dry place and close the lid tightly after use.

 Mascara:
3 months. If your mascara dries up before 90 days, throw it away. Don't add water or saliva to the product. Doing so, you will increase a chance of getting an eye infection. If you have had eye infection, clean or throw away all of your eye applicators and products. The bacteria has been transferred to your makeup and it increases risk of getting another eye infection.

 Eye pencils:
You can keep your eye pencils for up to 2 years but make sure your sharpen the tip before each use.

 Eyeshadows:
Liquid and cream shadows 12 months. Powder shadows 2 years.

 Lipsticks:
You can keep your lipsticks and lip pencils for 2 years but sharpen your lip pencils before use.

 Blushes:
Cream blushes for 1 year. Powders and powder blushes for 2 years.

 Foundation:
Tinted moisturisers and sick concealers for 18 months. Oil free foundations and liquid concealers 12 months.

 Lipgloss:
Unlike lipstick, lipgloss does not go off so you can keep it until it separates or turns mouldy.

 BB cream:
6-8 months. If it dries out, separates or changes consistency, throw it away.

Remember, if your product separates, smells funny, changes colour or begins to grow mould. Throw it away.

Review: Maybelline Clear Smooth BB Cream

A BB Cream is also known as a 'blemish balm cream' or a 'beblesh balm cream.' It was first developed by Dermatologists in Germany to help their patient recover after they had plastic surgery that could potentially leave a scar eg. Nose jobs, laser treatment, implants. They developed it to provide coverage and to help heal the scarring on their face after the surgery. It soon became popular among South Korean actresses and is now a big rage in Asia. The cosmetics companies saw an opportunity to develop this product, high end brands and drugstore brands developed it to be used as an everyday product to replace your foundation or tinted moisturiser.

I am using the shade 01 Fresh.

Maybelline Clear Smooth BB Cream in the shade 01 Fresh

Pros:
-It is affordable and available in most drugstores which makes it easily accessible.
-It comes in a small, compact squeezy tube.
-It is travel friendly and meets the plane regulations.
-A little goes a long way.
 -It is hydrating.
 -It feels light.
-It does not look cakey on the skin.

 Cons:
-It comes in two shades (01 Fresh is light and 02 Natural is quite dark.)
-If you don't blend it into your skin properly, it will make your face appear greyish.

What this product claims to do:
 Hydrate your skin
 Help skin elasticity
 Reduce redness
 Natural radiance
 Improve clarity
 Smooth out skin
 Reduce pore size

At the price of S$16.90 for 18ml, you are paying less than S$1 for 1ml. I have been using this on a daily basis since the beginning of November and I still have about half the bottle. You don't need a lot of product all over your face. I use a small dot on my forehead, one on each cheek, one on my nose and one on my chin and I blend towards the hairline using my fingers. Using your fingers will warm up the BB Cream and help it blend into your skin well. It dries off to a powder finish.

Best For:
People with normal/dry skin because this BB Cream is hydrating and for people looking for a sheer coverage BB Cream.

Not good for:
People that want a full coverage BB Cream. This evens out the skin but doesn't provide full coverage.

Would I repurchase?
It is a good product to have everyday, however, I would not repurchase this BB Cream because I am always looking to try out new products.

I found that I still need to use a concealer to hide my blemishes because the coverage is fairly light. Unfortunately, it only comes in two shades 01 Fresh and 02 Natural.
